The Concept

Imagine an open world sandbox game that allowed a player to earn his way from a greasy tavern to the mantle of a god. Where paths to success are as robust and varied as the universe itself. A game where the players build the largest portion of content as part of their experience through various trades and player-to-player quests.

And in this sandbox world existed a chaotic ecosystem where wildlife, as well as plant-life, grew old, procreated and leveled-up. A place where npc's battled each other as well as players to attain their own levels, while live players vied for the same experience. Perhaps in Epimetheus, when the bad guy wins they take a portion of your experience points. this could lead to bosses that dominate players for years before defeated.

Because the game is a simulated world, complete with its own ecosystem, some resources will be limited whilst others renewable. Players and NPCs alike will compete for their local resources. In-game language restrictions, as well as racial tensions, add dynamic to each players experience. Racial tensions and language restrictions can be overcome and altered by the players through their actions or they can be intensified to explosive levels of unrest.

Game moderators will function in-game as god characters; influencing and maintaining balance through natural disasters, item creation, blessings, and curses. These moderators can be replaced by successful players offering one more incentive to play. The faith-based system itself is a unique combination of followers, tithes, and sacrifices that will add both in-game dynamic and player ownership. Gods gain influence through acts of fealty committed by their worshippers such as worship, idols, tithes, sacrifices, etc. This unique approach will likely need tweaking as the game matures, but it is one of our more unique features.

As more of the game is solidified we will continue to update this post with future headings and topics.
