Updates!

Good morning, afternoon or evening everyone. I would like to take a moment to discuss the changes that we have completed in the last few weeks. Amazing feet, if I say so myself, all things considering. First I will go over the things that we have done to make this blog support the needs of this project, then I will tell y'all about the RL things that have made our tasks here... an opportunity to grow.

This blog was created as a place where people could watch and participate in the development of an actual online game. To do that we knew we were going to need to break this down into tasks and that we would need more people. The decision to seek artistic and creative contributions from others was made early in the pre-production stage of development and thus the need for a method of accepting those contributions became a task.

Please understand that I am not a business major, I am a software major with an expected graduation date of 2024. That's four years before the projected date of the first game release! To properly accept art and ideas from anyone required a fair amount of research into Intellectual Property Rights, Copyrights, legal release agreements and both our responsibility to the contributor as well as the legal obligations that such a transaction would require.

Ultimately our goal is to accept contributions openly, honestly and fairly for all involved parties. Nonetheless, we would be remiss if we didn't protect ourselves and this dream from outside legal ramifications. As the need arises we will address any oversights to our process but are confident that we will be able to keep ahead of it. I pray that the red-tape never becomes too ridiculous.

There is a need for communication between contributors and the development team as well as a platform to discuss development topics, concepts, ideas and familiarize ourselves with each other. And how would we keep people from completing tasks that were already completed, or two people from working on the same things at the same time? Of course, there are hundreds, if not thousands, of communication platforms out there and it is very possible that we will explore others as time goes on but nothing aides and abed quite like a forum.

To recap: we created a forum for discussions, a Task List to avoid duplicated work and offer direction to contributors, we developed a 'royalties for earned credit' system, created a Submission Form as well as an Intellectual Release Agreement to avoid legal shenanigans, we researched what it would cost to make this project official and published those expenses in a spirit of transparency and started a Go Fund Me page to accept monetary contributions and finally we added an About Us page that we hope will grow with time.

While we were doing all this we have had our only working car break down three times (thankfully I am as capable with a wrench as I am with a keyboard), had to move a family member with much more stuff than she had help (wish I was still 20), found employment (college is on hold until 2021) and finished our stone walkway. Honestly, I have to say that we are pretty awesome on this side of the New Hampshire border and that in no way diminishes the awesomeness of anyone from New Hampshire.

We appreciate the time people spend here on this blog and know that as time passes our numbers will increase. Bringing quality and dedication to this project will be the seeds and an amazing online game world will be the harvest. Please let us know if there is anything that you think can make this project a success.

Sincerely,
      Team Epimetheus
