Germanic Elves?

Image
Bizzen Last December we did a survey on Facebook to uncover which race on Aborlon our followers would like to see worked on first this year. The goal has been to expand on the histories, cultures, holidays, characters of note, and religions of each race. We are going to spend an entire quarter doing just that. As a result of that poll this first quarter has been focused on the Elven race. Did you know that the origins of the Elven lore are the Germanic people? It wasn't until later that surrounding cultures began to adapt and change details of this lore. Originally the Elf were believed to be either benevolent or malevolent. Meaning sometimes they would do good deeds whilst other times they would do bad ones. But they would always avoid being spotted by their larger human neighbors. It was interesting to follow the evolution of the mythology. Their height, personalities, and even their appearances changed as time progressed. Usually, these changes reflected some sort of social ...

Happy New Year!!

The beginning of a New Year brings hope and promise. Each year many of us look to the new year as an opportunity to do better, to shine brighter and grow more than the years past. We make resolutions and resolve to do them. We set goals, make plans and look toward new horizons. New Years is an excellent end to the holidays. But the truth is that every day that we wake up it is the beginning of the rest of our lives. We have the ability to start fresh every morning. We need not wait for the calendar year to conclude to find inspiration to remake ourselves. But it sure does seem more potent this night doesn't it? Our goals this year are as follows: 1.) Increase our following on this blog to 50+ people 2.) Flesh out the culture, political structures and religious organizations of 4 races 3.) Complete the 'Art Style Guide' 4.) Have way too much fun!! This will be our fourth year into the project and the growth has been remarkable. While we haven't completed all the goals s...

Jingle Jangle

Happy holidays! Or better yet  Merry Christmas! There is something so captivating about the holidays. There's the lights, decorations, Christmas music, family, friends, and my personal favorite: hot cocoa! While it is a bit overwhelming to some, it is intoxicating to many others. Trees are dressed in various arrays of tinsel, bulbs and lights. Gifts are wrapped. Cards wishing well and prayers of love are sent abroad and there is this general spirit of generosity and goodwill that prevails. This spirit delivers warmth and love around the world every year. It inspires acts of kindness, pulls our human race together in an unprecedented way and moves us as a species closer to our best face. While the mythical mascot of this holiday is preparing his sleigh and satchel, to commit the largest B&E imaginable, the true reason of the season is already at work. Jesus is our gift from our creator. No shiny wrapping paper, no bows or frills, nor are there candied sweets and feasts of ...

Fourth Quarter Updates

Image
Well fans, fine folks, friends, felonious foes and fabulous family members welcome to another silly-billy, wet-willie ... er...um.. progress update. It's a little challenging to really make a term like: 'progress update' sound fun. Hmmm... How about "adventure status". Welcome to our  Amazing Adventure Status!   Blue Dragon v.3 There has been some interesting progress made in wildlife art. With another dragon, a dragon sub-species and a couple of curious looking fellas completed things are getting crowded. Unfortunately, we have not done any step-by-step examples in the recent updates. However, we are perfecting a layering technique that will be introduced to our followers soon. You can see some of this technique being used with the fins of the blue dragon.  So stay tuned all you artsy gurus. Lullen v.3 A new milestone has been added: initial game intro via a turn-based browser game . With the growing list of art assets we creep ever closer to completing an Art S...

God's Will is Greater Than Mine

Approximately two years ago a tribulation arose in my life. Like any hardship there were two ways in which it can be addressed. One can become bitter and angry, letting the pain and suffering of their trial get the best of them. I am sure you know the type. They are angry, quick to verbally and/or physically lash out at those around them. They blame others for their troubles and can never quite admit the part that they played in the mess they find themselves in. Bitter to the end. The other way is to become better, allowing the hardships of life to refine you. Pain strengthens them. They remain calm when others do not. They find it in them to remain patient, understanding and compassionate to those around them. Troubles come and go and with that understanding they patiently bide their time knowing that it shall pass. Somehow the same pains that damage others give them wisdom and tolerance. It would be dishonest to say that the Developer Producer of this blog (that's me!) takes his...

Dragons & Sub-dragon species

Image
The blood of dragons is said to run through the veins of the planet itself. Older than time with origins as uncertain as to the part they play in the world of Men, Monsters, and Fairie; Dragonkind span breeds, species, and physical boundaries. Most noticeable to the World of Epimetheus and its inhabitants are the colossal Dragons. These seven breeds of the colossal dragon species are elusive, powerful, and highly intelligent. However, there are many dragon subspecies. One of the more notable is the Draconian people of Glatar. There is another subspecies known as dragonette, with a diverse and colorful list of breeds. From the two-headed Viator to the feathered Dragonhawk, dragonettes come in many shapes and sizes. It is within this line of wildlife that we have been focused on this last quarter. The black dragon needed some serious rework. To save time step-by-step images were not created. Instead, side-by-sides are provided to show the direction and progress. For those that are l...

Beware the Ides of March

Image
March is already half over. Stimulus checks are being distributed around the country. Bans due to COVID are finally being lifted. Spring is only a few days away. Yeah, baby!!! Change is happening. But what about our beloved game project? Where is that at? What has been going on there? Where ya at Mr. Blog-poster?  This blog has been running for nearly three years now. There have been hundreds of improvements as well as phenomenal progress made. All of which is documented in posts within this Blog and summaries found on our website . But since the beginning of this year, things have gone quiet. Inquiring minds want to know: what's up? This blog was created to serve two purposes. The first was to elicit the help of others in developing the game. The secondary purpose was to communicate with the public the progress being made in developing the game. There has always been a hope that the first targeted goal would alleviate the burden of the second. But hope is a fickle and fleeti...
